LG error code tCL: Not a fault — the washer is reminding you to run a Tub Clean cycle. This appears every ~30 cycles to prevent mold and detergent buildup in the drum.
Not a fault — the washer is reminding you to run a Tub Clean cycle. This appears every ~30 cycles to prevent mold and detergent buildup in the drum.
The appliance is reminding you to run a built-in maintenance routine — typically a Tub Clean, Filter Clean, or Self-Clean cycle. Empty the appliance, add the recommended cleaner (or vinegar/affresh tablet for washers), and start the cycle from the menu.
Tools needed: Affresh or washing machine cleaner tablet
After the cleaning cycle completes, most appliances clear the reminder automatically. If it persists, hold the relevant cycle button for 3–5 seconds (Tub Clean for LG/Samsung washers; Filter Reset for refrigerators) until the indicator goes off.
While the appliance is empty, wipe down the door gasket fold (front-load washers) and the detergent dispenser drawer. Mold and detergent residue trapped in these crevices is what triggers the reminder more frequently than expected.
Tools needed: Cloth, Mild cleaner
Most maintenance reminders are triggered by detergent residue. Switch to HE detergent (for HE machines), reduce dose to the minimum recommendation, and skip fabric softener occasionally — softener buildup is a major cause of mold and odour issues.
