Maytag error code F0E5: The drum load is too unbalanced to safely spin. The machine paused the spin cycle and attempted to redistribute the load multiple times before displaying the error.
The drum load is too unbalanced to safely spin. The machine paused the spin cycle and attempted to redistribute the load multiple times before displaying the error.
Open the door/lid and manually redistribute clothes evenly around the drum. Heavy items like towels, jeans, and blankets tend to cluster on one side. Mix heavy and light items together.
A single heavy item (like a comforter) cannot be balanced in most residential washers. Either wash it at a laundromat with a larger drum or add a similar-weight item on the opposite side.
Place a spirit level on top of the machine front-to-back and side-to-side. Adjust the leveling feet (usually by turning them clockwise to lower) until the machine is perfectly level. A machine that is off by even 1/4 inch can vibrate severely at spin speed.
Tools needed: Spirit level, Adjustable wrench
Once level, tighten the lock nut on each adjustable foot against the cabinet bottom to prevent the feet from shifting during spin.
Tools needed: Adjustable wrench
A persistent UL/UE error on properly loaded, level machines may indicate worn drum bearings or failed shock absorbers (front-loaders) / suspension rods (top-loaders). Spin the drum by hand — a rumbling or grinding noise confirms worn bearings.
