The door switch is not reporting a consistent open/closed signal. The dryer cannot start a cycle without a confirmed door-closed signal.
Press the door closed with firm, even pressure until you hear a click. Overloaded machines can bow the door frame enough to prevent the latch from engaging.
Open the door fully and look around the door gasket (front-loaders) or under the lid (top-loaders). Even a small piece of fabric can prevent the latch from seating.
Look at the plastic latch hook on the door and the strike plate on the frame. Hairline cracks or broken tabs are hard to see — run your finger along the latch to feel for chips or breaks.
Disconnect power. Access the door switch (usually behind the door panel on front-loaders or under the lid on top-loaders). Test for continuity when the switch is actuated by hand. No continuity = failed switch.

Order the OEM door latch that matches your model number. Installation is typically 2–4 screws. Reconnect the wiring harness, close the door, and run a test cycle.
